Breaking New First: “Skool Gurl Diaries”- Wish

For More On Wish Visit Her Myspace

I recently came across this talented singer on Twitter not too long ago. I saw her picture and I was like she looks like she has some hot material (LOL, a little crazy right?). Without hesitation I clicked on her Myspace link and heard a couple of tracks and then I found a link to download her album on her page. This girl is extremely talented and it’s a surprise that she isn’t on someone’s label already. She has the image, the voice, and her style is a little different. “It’s been a long road even up until this very point, even without a deal. It’s rough, but I don’t plan on quitting. Ever.”

According to her Bio, she started off with a similar story as many artists today. She started off singing in church and then ended up participating in talent shows and other shows in the Baltimore, Maryland area.Apparently music was her life even at such a young age. “”When I got out of school, my friends would go play hopscotch, I would go home, do my homework, and put my headphones on for the rest of the night. My favorite CD was Mary J. Blige “Whats the 411″. I played it until it got all scratched up. Then I’d end up in class late the next morning because I decided I wanted to have a “singing contest” with one of my classmates in the yard. Funny, but true.”

Wish is an unique blend of just about everything from R&B to Rock to Pop. “I’m inspired by Rock, R&B, Jazz, Gospel, and Hip Hop. To put one’s self in a box, is the worst thing you can do. I love to have fun with it all.” This is especially true when it comes to her amazing effort, “Skool Gurl Diaries”.

Wish’s first offering as a solo artist is her debut promo album, “Skool Gurl Diaries”. The album features Wish taking on different school characters singing about heartbreak, love, finding the beauty within, and even calling those nasty girls out on the first single, “Slut (Gimme a “S”)”. Another fun track on the album is the first song EarStyle was introduced to, “H.A.T.E.L.O.V.E.”. Wish worked closely with her songwriter Donny Roc on the majority of the tracks on this album. Some of the finer moments on the album are with the tracks “Turquoise” and the empowering “Still A Queen”. It’s hard to believe that this is only a promo album and that the girl isn’t even signed yet. When she is signed, it’s going to be a problem!

We definitely believe that Wish is the next big thing! Gladly breaking New First, Ladies and Gentlemen we bring you Wish and her promo album, “Skool Gurl Diaries”. Check it out!
