Melanie Fiona Is Ready For The World

Reviews 01 Jul 2009

“Give It To Me Right”- This is the first single. A hot track that sets a great tone for the album and her career as a whole. If you haven’t heard the song request it at your local radio station or on 106 & Park. It’s different and a hot record. EarStyle.NET Rating: 5 out of 5.

“Bang Bang”- Dope record. She has her heart on the target and she’s ready to “Bang Bang”. Nice concept that has a very similar feel as her first single “Give It To Me Right”. Vocals are great as expected. She is like a doper and an underrated version of Amy Winehouse. EarStyle.NET Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

“Monday Morning”- Melanie Fiona tells her love that she’s leaving on Monday Morning. Not on Tuesday baby. This isn’t a sappy song either. The uptempo cut is very soulful and clean. We really enjoy her voice when the song is fading out. EarStyle.NET Rating: 4 out of 5.

“Please Don’t Go (Cry Baby)”- Keep on swinging and clapping! Really feeling this track. Melanie chants “All the Ladies take your crying to floor”. Theres no time to sit around and cry with Melanie she demands the ladies to floor. EarStyle.NET Rating: 5 out of 5.

“Ay Yo”- The mood of the album drops a bit on the track, but the voice is still there. So far the album is shaping up very nicely. Her voice is just so soothing and refreshing. Listening to this track just brings the thoughts of Summer. Dope feel. EarStyle.NET Rating: 5 out of 5.

“Walk On by”- An organ brings in this song. Feel like Melanie Fiona is taking us to church. She sings about making a person’s life hell. Nothing Godly about the lyrics lol. Nice record though. Don’t say shhh just walk on by. EarStyle.NET Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

“You Stop My Heart”- Am I in Hawaii or something? I feel like I am just laying back on some sand while this girl is performing her heart out. She definitely knows how to take you to a pleasant place while listening. Bum Bum Bum Bum Bum. EarStyle.NET Rating: 4 out of 5.

“Johnny”- This may be the most uptempo song on the album. I love the scratches. I wonder who produced this one. This song actually reminds me of a song by an artist we featured here on the site named Wish. It sounds like her song “H.A.T.E.L.O.V.E.” yupppp..still really dig this track. EarStyle.NET Rating: 5 out of 5.

“Sad Songs”- Loving the island vibe. Very nice hook. As Melanie Fiona states in the beginning of the song, Sad Songs are the best songs. It seems that way doesn’t it? I was trying to think of who else this girl sounds like. It finally came to me on this track. She sounds like a much more polished Keyshia Cole. EarStyle.NET Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

“Priceless”- This song is good. Doesn’t really stand out that much against the rest of this amazing album.  It’s not a bad song, but nothing out of the ordinary. EarStyle.NET Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

“It Kills Me”- This song leaked some time ago. I knew it would be my favorite from the album the day I heard it. Crazy record. This is the song that really got my attention and made me do my research on Melanie Fiona. Her vocals are crazy on this one. Supposedly this is the next single. There’s no reason why Radio shouldn’t play this…well wait. Radio never plays the good stuff anymore. EarStyle.NET Rating: 6 out of 5.

“Teach Him”- Nice way to close this amazing album. This song was actually used in the movie “Obsessed”. Dope Acoustic record. Overall, this was a great album! Everyone should definitely support her August 18th and cop this album. I believe the album is already out in Canada so if you live there make sure you check it out. Support her yall! This is true talent right here.
