Jhene Aiko had me really intrigued once a little track by the name of “July” dropped by Drake. She really captured my attention with her 2011 project Sailing Soul(s). Now, Jhene Aiko is continuing to sail on in 2012 with new music, a new label, but the same attitude.
If you’re a follower of Jhene Aiko, you would know that she is a really simple girl who just believes in the goodness of the universe and doing what she loves. When she announced that she had signed to legendary producer No I.D.’s Artium Recordings label through Def Jam, some thought that she was finally selling her soul. Don’t worry. That same Jhene Aiko that everyone has re-fell in love with on her Sailing Soul(s) project isn’t going anywhere. The singer insists that she is remaining true to her craft and has full creative control over her upcoming projects.
She will be releasing Soul(ed) Out soon and then will begin work on her debut album. Music isn’t the only thing that she will be pursuing this year. According to some recent tweets, Jhene plans to continue educating herself by taking some classes this Spring.
