Earstyle: How are you today?

Dondria: I’m Great, I’m great.

E: First of all, I was a fan the moment I saw your videos. You’re very cute and I love your personality. I saw your video of “Resentment” actually. I was hooked ever since. I Told everyone I know, “Check this girl out! Check this girl out!” My mom listened and everything. (Laughs) You are funny too. (Laughter).

Most people send out demos but you were discovered the same way that I found you. So how does that feel?

D: It feels great! I think that it’s actually a better opportunity , because you know with the demo, like, you don’t know what this person looks like , you don’t know how this person acts , and you don’t know how they really sound without all of that studio ”fix” . It’s like, it’s them, but it’s not really them.

E: Right.

D: So with me, you know, Doing my stuff on you tube, they got to see the real me, my personality, you know, how I sound when I’m off, when I’m on. And that, especially with JD, that made him think that “Okay dang, she sounds like this…WOW! “, “Imagine how she’ll sound in the studio”. So I think it was definitely a better opportunity for me.

E: Your biggest audience is sitting right in front of the computer screen. You seem very comfortable in front of the camera. But is it any different when you hit the stage? Is the response different when you perform on stage to perform your studio material?

D: If I perform in front of a huge crowd, I know I won’t have any problem doing shows and concerts, because a big huge crowd is the same as being in front of the camera. I can’t see like one particular person, since the crowd is so huge. As far as mini performances …like I had to do a showcase in front of the label, I was a little bit nervous, because you can see every different person’s face. They sit with straight faces meaning they want to see how you would do under pressure. So the small crowds are the ones that are going to get me.

E: Over the summer you released your first single, “Can’t Stop”, and a lot of people compared it to Solange’s single “I Decided”. Did you see any similarities and do you think it hurt the song in any way?

D: I did see a small comparison. But I think that, they’re different songs, and in any way it’s going to get some type of attention, because they’re not your typical type of R&B song. I don’t think it hurt me though.

E: Do you classify yourself as the typical R & B artist or what would you say is your style?

D: I think my style is R&B and pop slash soul. I think I do a little bit of everything for everybody.

E: Who are some of your favorite Pop artists?

D: I love Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and Danity Kane.

E: You know that there are only three now? (Laughs)

D: Yeah…

E: Sad about that?

D: Unless Diddy has something up his sleeve, it’s just not the same effect with only three.

E: You also mentioned Britney Spears; she’s back out now…

D: I love Britney. I just realized I did, like I run around the house dancing to her music. Like, I Love Britney Spears! I’m Excited, because I feel like she, the whole reality TV shows and the commercials, it’s always publicity before the album comes out. I’m excited to see where she’s coming from. After everything, it’s going to be hot.

E: Yeah I heard the CD and it is crazy and the production is crazy.

D: Yeah and I think that Chris Brown is writing a few songs for her.

E: I don’t think songs made the cut. But he’s pretty talented, I just found out he wrote the song “Disturbia” by Rihanna.

D: Me too!

E: He’s very talented.

D: That’s very good for him though. He’s very diverse.

E: So you say you dance around the house to Britney. Are you ever going to record a video of you dancing?

D: Yes, I was actually talking to JD about that. I just don’t want to be the artist that just stands on stage. I’m going to show yall stage presence, I’m going to show yall a show. Not just my voice, I’m going to show my whole image.

E: Speaking of image, do you have any special talents, info that people don’t really know about you?

D: I am a country girl. I was born in Oklahoma, my Grandparents have a farm and I use to work on the farm, literally. (Laughter)

E: So you’re the all around girl. You are always eating in your videos what’s some of your favorite foods?

D: I love Chipotle! (Laughter) I can eat it all day.

E: I love to eat as well. What’s your favorite food? Is there something you cook that I must try?

D: Well Chipotle firstly! My friends and I must eat chipotle. That’s the place. I put hot sauce on everything! My secret ingredient, even when I cook for people.

E: If I ever come across your cooking I’ll know why it’s spicy!

D: (laughs) I love spaghetti. It’s simple and the most fulfilling meal. Its healthy, you can make it healthy if you want…compared to a burger.

E: So what’s the title of your album and what should we expect from the album? And did you do any writing for the album?

D: The album name is “Dondria vs. Phatfffat”. You should expect a song for everybody. I have songs for the young girls, the teenagers, and in college, songs for the moms and parents. I have a pop song, R&B song, a soul song. I didn’t write on this album, but I do write on my free time.

E: What’s the difference between Dondria and Phatfffat?

D: Well it did start off me eating …but, I’m not a copy cat, but I know Beyonce had Sasha Fierce first. But Dondria is pretty calm. She’s to herself, a little too mature sometimes, she gets nervous. She just likes to be safe. Phatfffat eats while she sings; she wants to be herself and wants to show you 100percent of herself. She likes to be herself. She is the wild and crazy one. She’s the Sasha fierce on stage. She’s going to make you keep you looking keep you wanting more from me.

E: What are your favorite tracks on the album?

D: My favorite track is written by Cristyle called “Born”. She wrote the majority of my album. I Love her! She’s hot! “Born” is a love song and it’s basically saying that I was born to love you. I’m really mushy and I’m into being in love. My newest is “Can you help me” I just finished recording a week ago. I love it, it’s talking about a relationship that’s in trouble, but can you help it get back to where it was.

E: I really like your track, “Boy stop” with Bow Wow. How was it working with him?

D: It was JD’s Idea, and usually people are use to me doing ballads. It’s prone to a certain market. Like One market likes it, but another doesn’t. “Boy Stop” was the Hi-Hop “Can’t Stop” if that makes any sense. Bowwow is crazy but he has a lot of energy. Before I’m in my mode, I’m Dondria and Bow Wow changes me to Phatfffat on this song.

E: Is this the official single?

D: I‘m not too sure.

E: So who else have you worked with for your album?

D: Johnta Austin and I have a duet with him called “Shawty what’s up”. As far as writers, I have Phil Tan, a master mixer for JD, NO ID, NITTI; I have a lot of writing and production on the album.

E: So you are around JD a lot so have you met Janet? Is she an Idol of yours?

D: Yes I have met Janet. She’s actually the only person I’ve ever been nervous around because I try to tell myself” Just chill” but with Janet I was like “OMG”. She’s like an icon, but she’s very sweet and cool.

E: What is your current outlook on the music industry?

D: Oh gosh. The music our parents grew up to and loved, we don’t have music like that and I think with the people about to come out, Jazmine Sullivan, Keri Hilson, and myself, we are going to bring that real music back. That’s a good thing. With the internet and YouTube it’s a whole new way to discover people. Like myself, I buy albums on ITunes; I think it makes it easier to get the music. You don’t have to go to the store to worry about extra stuff.

D: Shout outs to the Fans! And my Mama! (Laughter) I want to thank the fans; because they started me they helped me get my million views on my page. They did that for me, they support me every day. I know they really do support me, rather than an image, because I was just myself. I know it’s real. I thank them all the time.

E: I feel you. You have any advice?

D: Use any avenue as they can. When I was in my prime with my whole recording and performing, I was singing at this local café and. Any avenue that you see, utilize it you never know whose there, whose what. I remember I was in this pop group and this guy came to me and he came to me about recording demos. You never know.
