After being pushed back earlier in the year, the highly anticipated new Rock album from Kid Cudi and producer Dot da Genius (produced “Day N’ Nite) has finally been released. Some fans might like this move from Cudi and just want him to continue dropping MOTM’s, but me being a huge Kid Cudi fan, I’ll support basically anything he does. Critics have said that this attempt at rock was a failure and that this album is nowhere near what they expected. I, on the other hand, really enjoyed this album. This still sounds like the same old Cudi from the MOTM series even though he has given up drugs. The best tracks on this album, in my opinion, are: Love Hard, The Dream Time Machine, Efflictim, Upper Room, and Teleport  2 Me, Jamie. Here’s a quick review on all the tracks on WZRD:

1.) The Arrival- It’s only an instrumental, but it gives a great cinematic vibe to start the album. (3.5/5)

2.) High off Life- A song dedicated to his new sober lifestyle, Cudi explains how he no longer needs drugs to make him happy and that    he is simply high off life. (4/5)

3.) The Dream Time Machine- A song about how life has changed for Cudi since his music career began. Features supporting vocals by Empire of the Sun. (5/5)

4.) Love Hard- One of the few songs about love on this album. Cudi talks about being committed in a relationship from a man’s perspective. (5/5)

5.) Live & Learn-Cudder explains how life has been and how he has gone through learning lessons. (3.5/5)

6.) Brake- The first song off the album that was leaked. A song dedicated to how to take on life head-on, ignoring everyone people who stand in your way. (4/5)

7.) Teleport 2 Me, Jamie- Sampled from “Under the Spell” from Desire, Cudi sings a song for his long-time girlfriend Jamie. (5/5)

8.) Where Did You Sleep Last Night?- A cover of a traditional folk song known as “In the Pines”. This song was also covered by Nirvana, which inspired WZRD to make their own version. (3/5)

9.) Efflictim- My favorite song on the album. Cudi wonders how people would react if he suddenly died. Cudi did an excellent job on the guitar on this record. (5/5)

10.) Dr. Pill- Cudi writes a tribute to a doctor loose with prescriptions in a modern-day update of the Beatles’ classic “Doctor Robert”. (3/5)

11.) Upper Room- On this track, Cudder wonders if people would survive if they lived his life and that the only way he survived was because of guidance from the “upper room” or heaven. (5/5)

Overall this is a great album, might just be my favorite of the whole year. My only problem with this LP is that there weren’t any live drums; all the drums were programmed on a machine. It really took away the “rock n’ roll” vibe I’m sure WZRD was aiming for.

I give this album a 4.5/5

Over the weekend Kid Cudi was one of the headlining acts at the Heatwave Festival in Australia. He performed his new single ‘Teleport 2 Me’ for the first time. I like it !

This 10 minute video was directed by Shia LeBeouf and it’s a KILLER, literally. This movie was inspired by the french speaking movie “Man Bites Dog”. This video is not for the faint of heart!

Kid Cudi ultimately his own self-conscious in the “Mr. Rager” video which appears on the 2010 project Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager. Kanye West makes a very brief appearance in the Jeremie Rozan directed mini-film video.

It’s a fright fest in the Kid Cudi clip for “No One Believes Me”. The track is taken from the Fright Night soundtrack.
