Despicable: so worthless or obnoxious as to rouse moral indignation. Despicable is hardly a word that should be used to describe the new “Despicable Me” soundtrack which has exclusive new tracks from the executive producer Pharrell. Eight of the new tracks for the OST have been produced by The Neptunes with two classics: The Bee Gee’s – “You Should Be Dancing” & The Sylvers – “Boogie Fever”.

Despicable Me: The soundtrack’s opening track. It seems to be the theme of the main villain/character Gru. In the song Pharrell raps about why Gru carries out the actions he does and if you don’t agree with it… well that’s okay. Personally its one of my faves off the soundtrack.

Fun, Fun, Fun: One of the soundtrack’s standout tracks. The beat is infectious and most importantly… fun ironically as the song exclaims. It features Pharrell singing his heart out over the percussion. Another great track that you definitely shouldn’t sleep on.

I’m On A Roll: New song sung by the duo Destinee & Paris that is very BORING. Nothing sticks out about the track at all and it’s very dull and boring… especially their voices. Very blah!

Minion Mambo feat. Pharrell & Lupe Fiasco: Another of my favorites as well…. It takes Lupe Fiasco rapping as one of the Minions pledging their loyalty to Gru and how they are going to help him steal the moon. It’s a silly track that’s fun as well, you’ll definitely be able to clown to it.

Boogie Fever: Now of course this classic is just that A CLASSIC that was released in 1975 from their album “Showcase” and obviously could still get play at a party and be able to rock to it. Always have to pay homage to our old school music.

My Life: Robin Thicke makes an appearance on the soundtrack with a great lil cut on the album. It’s very catchy and easy to bump to. I expect this one to be a fan favorite.

Prettiest Girls: Once again Pharrell produces a track that has him singing once again but the beat is very happy and jolly. Even the toughest of people will catch themselves rocking from side to side listening to him proclaim whom the Prettiest Girls are.

Rocket’s Theme: Pharrell takes the route of creating a song that talks about Gru’s plans of getting to the moon on a rocket and getting there before ‘they’ come. The moon is Gru’s ultimate goal in the film and this song definitely coincides with that purpose.

You Should Be Dancing: Now many of us know the Bee Gee’s for many songs during the disco era but You Should Be Dancing is something any fan of music can deny is something that doesn’t have your body rocking to the beat. Another classic that is placed perfectly on the album

The Unicorn Song: “Unicorns I Love Them, Unicorns I Love” are the only words said in the entire track but don’t think the simplicity of the song means it won’t be great. Agnes creates a track very reminiscent of a club song and it’s fun to dance to as well. It’s a nice lil track.

And to sum it all up although the soundtrack is ONLY 10 tracks I do believe that The Neptunes have produced an album that is worthy of being the soundtrack and giving us quality music that we can enjoy.

“Despicable Me” hits theaters July 7th and the soundtrack is in stores July 6th!

Here’s a video from Robin Thicke and Nicki Minaj performing the single “Shakin’ It for Daddy” live on David Letterman. The band killed this performance, but we can’t stop laughing at Robin’s attempt at dancing and Nicki Minaj’s “stomp” performance.
