In 1994 Wu Tang Clan dropped the Gold certified “C.R.E.A.M.”. The hip-hop group told a story of the power of the “dollar dollar bill” and the effect it has had on their lives. It’s now 2020 and things haven’t changed. Cash still rules everything around us. Hip-Hop duo Run The Jewels, which consists of Killer Mike; member of Atlanta’s Dungeon Family musical collective and El-P; New York bred rapper and producer, dropped their latest LP ‘RTJ4’. One of the highlights is the bouncy and catchy “JU$T” which features Pharrell Williams and Zack de la Rocha. You’ll find yourself nodding along as the collective questions just how free we really are when we are all just a slave to the dollar. Sad story.
Master of the politics, you swear that you got options (Slave)
Master of opinion ’cause you vote with a white collar (Slave)
The Thirteenth Amendment says that slavery’s abolished (Slave)
Look at all these slave masters posing on your dollar (Get It?)
